Imperative Informatics (Africa) was established at the end of 2005, successfully developing bespoke Microsoft® .NET® software for large medium and enterprise organizations. In 2008, the organization became a subsidiary of ApplxBridge, which brought about new strategic influences. This included the ability to develop our own niche solutions aimed at lowering IT total cost of ownership. Global trading conditions in 2009 had a strong influence on choice of information technologies, licensing models, service delivery mechanisms, and our general market approach. Also important to our organization, Imperative Informatics (Africa) would become a systems integrator for ApplxBridge products. Imperative Informatics (Africa) does continue to offer business services to some of South Africa’s top blue-chip enterprises as well as the SMME market where high-end IT expertise is not available, or simply too expensive to be considered.
Another important milestone achieved in 2008 was our Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) initiative, which resulted in 25.1% of the organization being sold to young graduate entrepreneurs. They served the organization as highly rated employees early on in their careers. Prior to this share sale, their operational successes were well recognized by clients and internal peers alike. This BEE ownership transaction truly reflected broader economic empowerment from a grass roots level. Full shareholder voting rights as well as mentorship to serve our Directorate became a key part of the business agreement. Subsequently, Imperative Informatics (Africa) also addressed employment equity, preferential procurement, and community development as important contributors of its broad based empowerment strategy.
Today, the organization continues to thrive as a proud South African business with a growing heritage in innovation, intellectual capital development, and customer influenced business processes.
